word in the auto blog world is that Nissan wants to re-release the 240sx. I'm guessing to compete with the Genesis and i believe Kia has something up there sleeves. As a 240sx owner i would hope they do the past generations justice, if you are unfamiliar...
((When i say 240sx i am talking about the US versions. just imagine when i say 240sx that 180sx, 200sx, and Silvia are understood.))
Let me show you the beauty Nissan made for little more than a decade...
(some of these may be slightly modified but that's the fun of having a 240sx. I'll talk about modifying a little later on.)
I'll start with the 89-94 family which was came in hatchback, coupe, and a few lucky convertibles. to learn a little more here is the link for the Wiki page
Now the 95-98 models
Oh and if you live in other parts of the world you may have been graced with this beauty.
The S15 Silvia 99-02
From what i have read it will be staying a rear-wheel drive car. But what i hope Nissan realizes is that the fun of owning a 240sx is the practically limitless possibilities of modification.
From the Engines (which were crap in the U.S. compared to the stock engines overseas) to the Body. Imagine going from a lame 4 cyl. engine to an engine out of the Nissan Skyline, which was never introduced in the states til this year.(legally) its not exactly practical for the daily driver but with a little work its possible.
As for the body, the front facade of these cars from 89-2002 with a little work and factory parts are interchangeable. Even the Skyline facades can be used. if interested, i advise searching google for "240sx conversion" it can be too much to list.
Also suspension pieces can be used from other various cars: Infiniti's mainly, but still. its possible.
And the aftermarket for these cars is ridiculous. the leader being Japan (obviously) sustaining this cult following. always innovating and improving on cars that are decades old.
Now without further ado, the possible future (2011,2012
Wrong
Wrong
Wrong
That is the Foria concept which is thought to be what the 240sx will be modeled after. being built on the 350z,370, and infiniti G platform, i hope they are smart enough to make suspension pieces and Wheels interchangeable and use the aftermarket that has come from these cars.
For the article: Go Here
The article says "reviving" but that seems more like a "re-imagination." The next 240sx should really not be that much different than what we have now. It should just have more Factory options, especially for the U.S. Seems like we always get the crap end of the stick, with watered down versions. And keep the Hatch, Coupe, Vert body styles.
My Import cars are probably breakdown after I say this, but....... Nissan kind of needs to see what Ford, Dodge, and Chevy are doing with their classics. Cause that's what Nissan has: A Classic
just one mans opinion
I'll try and make this short
