"We've heard random reports of a few people already waiting in line (see the photo below of two early birds snapped by a reader in Santa Monica), but we're going to stay inside for now and take a look back at June 19th in the history of Engadget below."

Gotcha

i know this is old, but for some reason i remembered it and was trying to explain it to my girlfriend. it magically reappeared on Digg (i swear, i think some people post something and wait a few months then repost)

Kick Ass

This is for Ashley

and other NPR listeners i suppose

i was born in the wrong country

When I was teenager a car was a necessity. If you didn't have a car in high school, you were lame. If you had a lame car, you were that kid with a car that gives rides. If you had a cool car, you were just cool. (or the haters would call you a rich-y)

In my geographical area, things were few and far between with no public forms of transport. so if you didn't have a car or a good friend with a car, you were stuck out. you stayed home and did nothing but expand your love for video games and BB guns. Though i had a job at 15 years of age (Six Flags FTW) i actually didn't get a car of my very own til i was 17...When i was 17, i drank some very good beer, i drank some very good beer i'd purchased with a fake ID, my name was Brian McGee, i stayed up listening to Queen, when i was 17. (if you know that diddy, you're cool)

So at 17 I had my very own car. what was it you ask? A very beat down 1985 Chevy Blazer with like 80,000 miles, which for a chevy is the end of the line. it got me to and from school and a few places inbetween. So i was the school bus for a few friends, lame car at work.

So at the ripe age of 27, I'd like to think my ideas have changed. Lame cars now are domestic, and cools cars i will never be able to afford. What i look for now in a car is a non-domestic with a good following*, and if the car has a little rarity to it...Bonus!

Where am i going with this???

you will probably laugh, but currently i have obtained a little luxury. I am currently employed and it is a mere 2.5 miles from home. Not as good as working from home, but a little travel and separation keeps "cabin fever" at bay. "cabin fever" is real, i've seen it drive cats crazy. meow..meow..meow all over the place, but i digress. I've entertained the idea of alternative transportation, not public although my area now supports it. I have been looking into Scooters/Mopeds (whatever you like to call them) as a viable option.

What about a motorcycle you say? i heard you thinking it, see you are already showing your negative images about scooters. (i guess that name doesn't help) I don't picture myself in the "i-ride-a-motorcycle" category. i guess that shows my closed minded thoughts about stereotyping people by that factor, but i must be true to myself.

I'll lay out what i can off the top of my head:

Harley Davidson
: Old guy that is single/married that wants to be away from home and automatically belong to a group. Also, possibly the "Old guys" wife that also enjoys not giving her husband a moment to himself. Oh, and people trying to find an excuse to wear odd leather articles of clothing.

Crotch Rockets
: Douchebags and Douchebags' friends. or on the odd occasion an IT guy that wants to look cool carrying a helmet in front of Karen from accounting. I will admit that normal people do enjoy riding/owning crotch rockets, but thats not me. contradicting i know

Those are my two categories for motorcycles. I'm sure if you read this and you own/ride one of these, you either laughed or automatically expressed your hatred for scooters. I understand, but you have to understand my reasoning.

1. I'd rather not deal with changing gears
2. Those others are serious characters in the two-wheel world. I'm whimsical
3. Those (i think) are only enjoyable on a longer commute
4. Those cost more. I'm a cheap bastard
5. Not sure i have enough garage space, and no i won't park it in the house.
6. I want a Scooter (said with a manly tone)

See its all logical. Though number six should say: i want a scooter that looks cool. I don't want to look like the goofy nerd from American Graffiti. after looking at current models of scooters i have only seen a few that look decent. Out of those my favorite is..........the Yamaha Zuma 125

it looks like an ATV mated with a Vespa.  I can dig that.

If the title confused you, its because i had a brain fart and went off on a tangent.  I was just going to show you this and say "Do Want."

but its a little more than that.  I want to live/grow-up where that is abundant, and by "that" i mean creativity.  Everything we get is second-hand and regurgitated to death, also usually from Japan.  whether its Movies, Cars, Clothes.....everything seems like it originated overseas.  Once the good ol' US of A got its ass handed to them in the 70's with the Cars and in the 80's-present with the Advanced Technology.  It's like America said "whats the point" and gave up.  Well you say, "America has the Camaro and the iPhone/Pad"....bah.  The Camaro is a re-design, from when? class....Thats right, the 60's.  That lovely iPhone/Pad is only designed here, but "say it with me class" Made in China (with Chinese/Japanese parts)

"We kicked their ass in Dubya Dubya 2"  you say?   well maybe we should have kept that WMD to ourselves, for all we know we created a mutant race of super geniuses.  A little far fetched?..... how about maybe they took our design of the Atomic bomb and reverse engineered it, improved it.......you know, because they weren't in a hurry to create it to kill a large amount of people.

Now that i think about it, there probably is no such things as Aliens from Space.  It's just the Japanese messing with us.  Think about it.......small beings, advanced technology, being perverted and probing people.  It all makes since now.
